Introduction

Welcome cowboys , cowgirls and folks who love everything country.

Since the dawn of film, cowboy  movies have been one of the great, durable movie genres. Most of us were introduced to the  country way of life while growing up watching western cowboy movies. These movies  appeal to us  strongly because  it had everything in it to give us an adrenalin rush - tough guy heroes, action set pieces on horseback, adventures in magnificent landscapes & good triumphing over evil.

For me, it  had everything that mesmerized and fired my adventurous spirit - the thunderous sound of horses, the sleek gun battles, the roughness & beauty of the desert landscape, the rugged men in equally rugged & rustic towns and who can forget the infectious music. It had all the ingredients that make me wanna be a cowboy !!

The trip to the cinema back then was an adventure itself and I still remember the music and fight scenes long after watching the movies and it made me want to emulate the hero characters, especially Clint Eastwood. If you love Westerns, most of your favorites are probably from this era - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, For A Few Dollars More,  Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,  Mackenna's Gold etc. There was also the television series of Gunsmoke , The Lone Ranger, Maverick,  Zorro etc . In more modern times , a new, gentler star emerged in Kevin Costner, who scored a megahit with Dances With Wolves and Wyatt Earp.

MATTHEW & THE MADARINS

In Singapore, we had our very own cowboy  culture in Matthew Tan, of Matthew & The Mandarins, Silver Dollars, Genevie, and a restaurant cum bar in the former Boots & Saddles in Chompang estate. And not too long ago, Singapore caught the line dancing fever, with  line dancing groups sprouting all over the island. Today we have quite a number of western themed restaurants and bars, steakhouses and country & western bands keeping the country tradition alive.

Country lifestyle is all about simple folks meeting up for a meal & beer with friends & family  enjoying great music. And of course, we get to dress up as well , all in the name of having a good ol time. Many thanks to all the country & western themed businesses  giving us the opportunity to keep the country spirit alive.

And although cowboy movies are not as popular as it used to be and though we may be far from Texas,  our love for everything Country is strong and we wanna keep that spirit alive especially for the next generation.

Above all, thanks to our Creator God Yahweh for it is He who showers us with all blessings.  Yee haw !!!  Hope ya'll get to meet more country folks and friends  through this site.
